In 2012, Youngcare put the call out to courageous Aussies to ‘choose their own adventure’ and, in doing so, help create choice in care and housing options for young people with round-the-clock care needs.
Youngcare’s three international expeditions included the Paris Marathon
, Race Across Asia
, and Great Wall Trek
. A total of 24 intrepid travellers stepped up to challenge of trekking, running, kayaking and cycling through foreign lands, all whilst raising vital funds and awareness for a very important cause.
Right now, 7,500 young Australians are living in aged care. A further 700,000 are being cared for at home by family and friends, often with limited support. It’s not right. Young people deserve choice in how they live and receive care. They desperately need real alternatives in care and supported housing options, so that they never have to consider a future in aged care.
The awareness and funds raised by each of our adventurers will go towards Youngcare’s work to create brighter futures for young people with high care needs. Youngcare is so grateful to each and every support who took on an adventure in 2012. To meet these inspiring individuals, please click here.
Please stay tuned for future opportunities to unleash your inner adventurer. In the meantime, check out how our amazing adventurers went in the Race Across Asia
