30 kms done and dusted! That’s 30,000 steps on Mark Foley’s FKG pedometer!
The trekkers started off at 6.45am yesterday morning and made it to their night location at 4.30pm. Excluding breaks, walking time was 8 hours 10 mins. A big day! It was a hot day, but not too bad walking temperature – but the unavoidable flies are driving everyone a little mad! That said, everyone did a great job yesterday.
The group enjoyed a lovely dinner of de-hydrated ‘surprise’ and a cuppa before turning in for a hard-earned rest in preparation for an early start this morning.
They stepped off early this morning to get their best walking of the day done in the cooler hours of the morning. Everyone is feeling a little sore after yesterday’s efforts and there are already a few blistered feet. The chopper will meet them for lunch today so they will have a hot lunch (i.e. Hot water). They had done over 8kms by 9.00am this morning and expect to hit 15 kms by lunch. They are looking to get into night location 3 by around 4.30pm.
Overall, they have said there have been a lot of laughs and they are surrounded by a great group of people.
If you would like to track where they went yesterday you can search the following GPS points on Google Earth:
