The impact of the lack of appropriate care and housing options for young people with full-time care needs varies significantly for each young Australian, their family and carers. The amount and type of funding, housing, respite care and support that young Australians with full-time care needs differs depending on each individual’s situation.
Youngcare takes a collaborative and dynamic approach to providing solutions to this very complex issue. Working with government, business and community, Youngcare has established apartments, developed an At Home Care Grants program to assist people with disabilities to stay at home for as long as possible and a support and information line to provide advice to those who need it most.
Andrew, John, Tim, Anthony and Nicole – just a few of the young Australians that Youngcare has been able to assist – have graciously shared their stories to help shed light on this inappropriate and unacceptable issue.
