Youngcare Simpson Desert Challenge 2013
The Youngcare Simpson Desert Challenge returns 9 –19 May 2013!
The trekkers made it through the Desert but you can still read the daily updates!
15 stoic supporters spent eight days walking over 300km across the geographical centre of the Simpson Desert to experience what life might be like for a young person living in aged care – not a “life” but an existence comprised of isolation, uniformity, restrictions and little decision-making ability.
It was a daily mental and physical battle, but it was an opportunity for the trekkers and their supporters to change the lives of thousands of young Australians in desperate need.

In 2011, 24 Youngcare supporters embarked on the Simpson Desert Challenge to shed a bright light on the lack of care and housing options available to young Australians with high care needs. Collectively they raised more than $1million for Youngcare. To read more about the Youngcare Simpson Desert Challenge 2011 please click here.
