Volunteer Spotlight – Alex
In my job I come across many organisations doing amazing work, all worthy of support and acknowledgement, but Youngcare has resonated with me more so than any other.
Young people are my friends, my parents and my colleagues. If any one of us were to end up with high care needs, I’d hate for aged care to be our only option. That’s why I’m so thankful for the work Youngcare is doing to help people exit and avoid aged care.
When you’re volunteering for a non-profit you don’t expect praise or reward, but the genuine appreciation you feel from the Youngcare team keeps you coming back to lend a hand again and again. The warmth, dedication and passion for the cause is admirable and creates a really welcoming environment at all of the volunteering events.

After volunteering at the Brisbane Y Women Event, Oktoberfest and Rugby Tens, I’m hooked! There’s always opportunities to get involved popping up yet there’s never any pressure to attend all of the events.
Youngcare really is a family of staff and volunteers that make a huge difference to lives of so many young Aussies and I’m so glad that I can be a part of that.
