Fundraising Ideas

There are many ways to get involved and support the cause, here are a few of our favourite tried and tested!

  • Organise a morning tea at work or with friends and charge a gold coin donation
  • Organise a fun run or sporting competition and raise money through registration fees
  • Trivia challenge, karaoke competition, lawn bowls, croquet
  • Chocolate or lamington drive
  • Organise a champagne breakfast, lavish luncheon or black tie dinner
  • Birthday or wedding donations in lieu of presents
  • Host a gala ball, fancy dinner or fashion parade
  • Contact your local Rotary or Lions Club and engage them to raise funds for you
  • Organise a sponsored competition like a dancing, spelling, colouring in, fishing or sporting
  • Hand carwash to raise funds
  • Have a sausage sizzle, barbeque or surf and turf night
  • Movie marathon night or private screening of a movie
  • Run a sports tipping pool and donate a percentage of the final pool money
  • Run a swap meet, garage sale or flea market and donate the proceeds
  • Approach your school and host a non-uniform day with gold coin donation for each participant
  • Host a golf day for friends, colleagues or clients
  • Organise a calcutta and donate a percentage of the prize pool
  • Run a readathon, walkathon, swimathon, etc
  • Organise an art show and raise funds with admission fees, art sales and auctions. Have local artists donate their works
  • Guessing competition with a gold coin donation eg. to guess how many jelly beans are in the jar
  • Use one of Youngcare’s donation tins and collect money at a local event or your workplace
  • Engage with local businesses in person at your place of residence and work – IGA, cafés, restaurants, sporting clubs, gyms, golf club, for sponsorship or in-kind gifts for raffle/auction.  These businesses may also wish to hold their own event for you or a percentage of sales to go towards your fundraising or facilitate a donation tin at the till.
  • Seek prizes or donations from friends/family and friends of friends – they may be linked to a business keen to assist
  • Engage your employer to sign up to Workplace Giving or each section within your workplace to hold mini fundraisers – morning tea, lunch etc
  • Further engagement with your kid’s school – bake sale, guess the number of lollies in the jar, raffle, school newsletter
