Youngcare and Horizon Housing are partnering to build a second stage development in Wooloowin, creating more age-appropriate, accessible housing in the community for young people with high care needs.

Neighbouring the existing Youngcare High Care Housing solution at Wooloowin, this development will provide up to 6 independent living spaces for young people aged 18-65 with high physical care needs.

This development will consist of 3 x2 bedroom (1 bedroom + study)  townhouses and a four bedroom home (three high care bedrooms and 1 x carer room). The four bedroom home will have the flexibility to house a family or to be used as a share house for three young people with high care needs. Developing a house specifically designed for young people with high care needs and their families allows for a greater connectedness to loved ones, opportunity for socialising and more control over their lives. The new development will also include onsite parking and shared common spaces such as gardens for quite enjoyment by tenants.

The design will complement the surrounding housing by maintaining high architectural quality, reflecting the look and feel of the Queenslanders within the area. Youngcare prides itself on delivering the highest possible standards of living for young people with high care needs, as a result this development will incorporate Youngcare’s platinum design and integrated technologies to allow young people with high care needs to live with independence.

Youngcare is proud to be partnering with Horizon Housing, Queensland’s largest and trusted not for profit community housing provider on this significant project. As owners of the development, Horizon Housing will be managing the building and delivery of the development and will be the property managers after completion. The collaboration between these two reputable organisations will deliver fantastic, tangible outcomes for the community.

Both Youngcare and Horizon Housing would also like to acknowledge the QLD State Government for the generous donation of land.
