Bernard Fanning — Youngcare Benefit Concert 2015

Bernard Fanning is back and he can’t wait for the Youngcare Benefit Concert 2015! Below he shares his fond memories of the past and some of his plans for the upcoming event.

“Ten years have gone by in the blink of an eye. It’s hard to believe that  a decade has passed since that first Youngcare Concert.

I am honoured to again be invited to curate a concert celebrating the achievements of a vital organisation that provides so much benefit to so many.

There have been some great advances in the care of people with high care needs in the past ten years, but there is still plenty of work to do to give all young Aussies with high care needs the chance to live a life of choice, independence and dignity.

The first concert at City Hall in 2006 holds some incredible memories for me. It was an atmosphere like no other I have experienced as a performer. I can’t wait to be a part of it again as City Hall is an iconic venue that rarely hosts concerts such as these.

Over the years, the Youngcare Benefit Concert has been host to a mouth-watering list of performers who have donated their time. Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Powderfinger, Pete Murray, Tim Rogers and Clare Bowditch are just some of the artists to have graced the Youngcare stage. I am yet to come across an artist that doesn’t want to be involved in some way.

I take great pleasure in welcoming Brisbane up-and-comers Mosman Alder, Melbourne’s #1 Dads who are headed by the multi-talented Tom Iansek and his host of merry guests, my own band, and returning funny man Julian Morrow to the stage. As always, we also have a special surprise guest to keep you on your toes!

Your continued support means that more young Aussies will be given the chance to live the young lives they deserve – I can’t wait to see you all on Saturday, 10 October!”
