Volunteer Spotlight – Erin & Jenn

Volunteer Spotlight – Erin & Jenn

“Being welcomed into the Youngcare Volunteer family has been such a fantastic experience; you can feel the pride and team spirit as soon as you put on your red shirt”.

What inspired me to volunteer was your most recent ad on TV. It was amazing and I had a tear in my eye watching it. Instantly I jumped online to see how I could help these great young people get out of aged care facilities.

I loved working the Oktoberfest event. I made great new friends, it was fun, exciting, a little hot but all in all we just had a great time raising awareness and money. I’d love to be able to help more and make use of my events background and really show how these events can help raise awareness and well needed money.

I enjoy volunteering as I know it is for such a good cause and to be honest these young kids spend every day battling, I am very fortunate to just go to work without a care in the world, it’s the least I can do to help out. This thought is what keeps me volunteering. – Erin

What better way to support Youngcare than by volunteering! From my first day in 2014 at Oktoberfest, then Gift Wrapping, and Budgie Bolt, to doing it all over again in 2015 – it has been a blast!

Being welcomed into the Youngcare Volunteer family has been such a fantastic experience; you can feel the pride and team spirit as soon as you put on your red shirt. Although it’s been frantically busy, and in 35 degree heat at times, each group of people I have worked with have been amazing. We’ve made it through the budgie-smuggler filled crowd at Budgie Bolt, the heat of Oktoberfest and the mad rush at the Christmas gift wrapping stand.

I’ve met so many great people, each with a different reason for volunteering, but all with the same purpose – to help Youngcare achieve their goals to get young Aussie’s out of aged care. – Jenn
