The Albany Creek Apartments – a place to call ‘home’ in Albany Creek

On 27 June 2017, it was a pleasure to invite The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk to share in a very special moment in time and officially open The Youngcare and MS Queensland Apartments at Albany Creek where eight young people with high care needs call “home”.

Built in partnership with MS Queensland and the Queensland Government, these integrated apartments are equipped with the latest in innovative technologies where lights, blinds and doors are all operated at the touch of a fingertip.

This allows the new residents to live with more freedom and independence. The two-bedroomed apartments are ideal for the eight new residents who can now have their family and friends stay overnight or use the spare room as a study.

Three of the eleven apartments will be rented out to the broader community to offset maintenance costs.

Youngcare is proud to set the standard for a new era of age appropriate housing for young people with high care needs – these apartments are a fine example of what can be achieved when we come together as a community and show that it is possible to build high quality, architecturally designed homes that enable young people with high care needs to live independently with freedom and choice.
